Not likely. For you technical people out there; POS is written in Java which means it can run of billions of devices (we know of someone who even has it running on Raspberry Pi) and that’s quite an achievement. So, it’s very, very likely you can use that old PC from Dell or HP that’s gathering dust in the cupboard. Although POS is designed to shine when used with a touchscreen you don’t actually need one as it works really well too with your standard keyboard and mouse setup.Importantly, POS has two screen-modes Window and Full screen options and you can switch between these whenever you like.The Window setting allows POS to run just like any other application such as your email.The Full screen setting does just that and effectively makes your PC or Terminal a dedicated POS Terminal locking users out from doing anything else. What size screen does POS need? 800x600pixel (or thereabouts) displays are still around in one form or another and POS uses this as its base screen size yet can automatically scale to fit anything bigger, and still look great. If you have an 800x600pixel screen you will need to run POS in Full Screen mode else some forms will be cropped. So why do I think it’s important to mention this? Because 800x600pixel (4:3 aspect ratio) is not as legacy as you might think.Many current tablet and mobile devices have a similar screen size like 1024x600pixels or 1024x768pixels (16:9 aspect ratio)Width is not a problem for uniCenta oPOS, but with 600pixel Height you do need to run as Full Screen else it will not show all forms components correctly. Can I change what gets printed on my Receipts? Of course you’ll want to make sure you include your own store’s detail from the get-go and POS lets you do that. The Apache Velocity Engine is seamlessly integrated into POS which means that you can create new, or make changes to the layout or content of any of the many pre-defined Tickets and Receipts that come with POS straight out of the box.This means that adding things like your logo, promo’ messages and the like can be done without the need to call in the services of a techie.
